Maple Syrup Festival

We took the girls to Bruce's Mill to see the Maple Syrup Festival with Jenn, Jeff and Kaitlyn. It was lot's of fun and a beautiful day (17 degrees woo hoo)! The girls got to go on a pony ride, a wagon ride and touch the animals in the petting zoo. Funnily, none of the kids wanted to touch the animals. With age brings a certain fear. Emma and Maddie used to pet any animal when they were 2 and 3, but now they are more aware I guess and therefore more hesitant. We then walked through the forest to see the maple trees and sap buckets and we got to sample some of the syrup. I couldn't eat it, I had a lick of Maddie's, but the girls all drank it like a shot! Gross! I mean it was good, but super sweet. Then we ate lunch at a picnic table and bought some maple syrup and maple syrup lollipops (oh, and fudge for John and I) at the store. All in all it was a great trip and we will definately go again next year. We will go earlier so we can sit down to pancakes. The line up was way too long so we skipped that part.

After the festival we stayed home and watched Princess and the Frog. I love that movie, and the girls needed quiet time. After dinner they had a bath and then went to bed without too much stalling. They were zonked! Great March Break so far and still a few days left!
