More funnies from my hunnies

Today's drive home was hilarious. Here is one of the conversations we had

Emma: mummy, do cats fall in love?
Me: um, well, they mate.
Emma: what's mate?
Me: they have babies together.
Maddie: how do the babies come out? Through their peanuts?
Emma: Maddie, cats don't have peanuts, silly. The babies come out of their butts.

Then I drove by roadkill (squirrel) and a crow was pecking at it. I heard Maddie say "oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh what is that bird doing with that piece of poo." I said "um, eating it but it's not poo." She said "what is it?" and I said "a dead squirrel." I peeked at her face in the rearview and she was horrified! I burst out laughing and the girls asked me questions about dead animals the entire way home. They decided that cars are allowed to hit rats because they don't like the colour of rats but they can't hit any other animal. Not even crocodiles with huge mouths! What a hoot these two are!

Facebook gets all the blog love!

Ok, so I post about the girls on Facebook and I forget to post here. Must remember to blog more! Here are some more funnies from my lovelies...

Emma: I have a red spot on my tummy, a "skeeter" bite on my arm and a bruise on my leg. I'm just falling apart!

Maddie: mummy, why do I have lot's of napkins and Emma only has one? Me: because you spill a bit more than your sister. Maddie: ah pickle nuts, you're right.

Emma says "ok Mr. Brain, I need you to tell your friend Mr. Tummy to be quiet and stop eating my sister's chips."

Maddie: will we die? Emma: yes but only when we are 158 years old.

The girls are a joy to be around and are sponges; absorbing everything around them. They helped me in the garden today and they both love planting. They were patient and good listeners and were thrilled when I let them decide where to put the impatiens an begonias. They get along well, for the most part, and play together nicely. They often put on performaces and will sing to me or act out something from a show they have seen. During said performances my eyes must be on them the entire time or I hear from them! So cute!

Love "kidspeak"

So the girls were totally zonked today. I asked them if they were up late last night (at a party with John) and Emma said "yeah, we stayed up til 47 o'clock, that's pretty late, right?" Such a cutie.

Maddie has had a mild fever the past few days and is noticeably quieter. I hope she is back to her old self tomorrow.

Both girls are totally into books these days which has me so happy. We took out about 14 from the public library the other day and I have to stop them after we read 5 because it's bedtime. They love school and make friends easily. They started gymnastics and they both had a blast, although Maddie was under the weather. I am looking forward to spending more time with them over the summer, when I am off. This really is a lovely age.

Hanging with mummy

Today is the second day of March break and we all had dentist appointments. The girls were so great and they sat there and followed instructions and were great listeners. Then we headed home to watch two movies that they got for their birthday. They've had trouble adjusting to the time change and are both lacking sleep. Hopefully it works itself out soon but for now they need quiet time in the afternoon.

Funny things they say part who knows?

I haven't been posting lately. Super busy over here but I intend to try and get on more even to post quick updates. The girls turned 5 today! Yep, 5! I cannot believe it time really flies! We had a great birthday party at the Superstore making pizzas and decorating cupcakes and tonight we took them to Boston Pizza. They were a little overtired but we still had fun. Some cute things the girls have said recently:

Maddie: mum, do you speak Spanish? Me: A little. Maddie: good, that means you can go to nerdles (noodles). Me: huh? Maddie: the bringers (she means waiters) speak Spanish so you can know what they are saying. Me: um, actually they speak Chinese. Maddie: oh, then you can't come because you speak Spanish!

The girls had their dance recital, and go for lunch then Chuck. E Cheese. Here's another gem. I can't make this stuff up! Maddie: is Sue going to come to Chuck E. Cheese with us? Me: No, just lunch. Maddie: Who's Lunch?

Tired girlies

Family Day here so we had the day off. The girls got up at 6:30! Typical! On a school day I drag them out of bed at 7:30 but on a holiday they wake at the crack of dawn. Oh well, they played together so I got to stay in bed a little longer. Later this morning Emma put her hand under my shirt and smushed my boob. Then she asks "how come you have long boobies?" I almost peed myself laughing! She said "look mine are short." I explained that as you get older your body changes and she asked why. I started getting into the puberty talk but she lost interest, thank goodness!

I took the girls to Walmart yesterday as Emma needs new pants. She is still a size 4! Maddie got a Justin Bieber shirt. She is so obsessed with him! This is a conversation from the car yesterday: Maddie: I love Justin Beaver. Me: You don't even know him. How do you know he treats women properly? Maddie: I don't know but I reawy wike his hair.

So cute!

Miss Manners

As I am sending the girls off to a Father-Daughter dance tonight, I say "now remember your manners" and Emma says "I don't know how to speak manners." "yes you do, it's when you say please and thank-you" and she says "oh, yeah, I know that language." lol So cute.

We celebrated Lily's 4th birthday today at the Superstore where the girls got to make pizza and decorate cupcakes. Emma wanted no cheese or pepperoni, just mushrooms and she actually ate the whole thing! So funny. Maddie had pepperoni and cheese and she loved her pizza. They both enjoyed decorating and a lot of licking the icing went on. We came home and hung out for a bit and then they went to the dance with John.

Report cards came home last week. Both girls got a great report and I had to laugh out loud when I read the first line of Emma's which read: Emma is a polite and quiet child. Ha! Yes she is polite, but quiet? Good grief. Now I know how my parents felt when the teachers used to say the same about me.

Snow Day. Sort of

I am still battling the cold the girls had, and Toronto and Markham got hit with some snow so I took a sick day today and the girls and I stayed home. They played outside with John and shovelled the driveway, we made smores and they coloured a ton of pictures. They are very excited for school tomorrow because they get to go on a field trip to do gymnastics. It's also Chinese New Year so they are wearing their cute traditional Chinese dresses. Since I was sick today they were very sweet and took care of me. Emma made sure I had a blanket and she would come over and pat my head and face and give me kisses. She is very sweet and affectionate. Madison would see my reaction to Emma and then run over and do the same. So funny. They got along today for the most part, but like any sisters, have their fair share of screaming matches! Good thing there weren't too many!

Bedtime Cuteness!

Maddie (at bedtime): mummy, do you wuv us?
Me: yes.
Mads: A wot or a widdle?
Me: A lot.
Mads: How much?
Me: To the moon and back a whole bunch of times.
Mads: dats a wot. Does dat mean I can have fruit woll ups for bweakfast?
Me: No
Mads: Oh!

Emma was star of the day at school and they get to do the calendar, weather and show and tell. She came home today and said "mummy, I got to do the calendar and weather but I didn't get to do show and tell because we had to go to the gym and practise for the concert." I said that was too bad and she said "so nobody in my class got to meet kitty." Poor thing brought her favourite toy-du-jour, her stuffed cat. Maybe next time she'll get to do show and tell.

That's not a fair deal

Tonight Emma was in full bargain mode at bedtime. I said she could watch a bit of tv after she brushed her teeth. So she brushed, washed her face and hands and then I said she could have 5 minutes of tv watching before bed. She said "5 minutes? That's not a fair deal." I laughed and said I thought it was perfectly fair, but would listen to what she had to say about it. She says "I brushed my teeth, washed both my hands and my face all by myself. I fink I need more than 5 minutes for fair, mummy." Good grief, how did this kid get to be such a good negotiator?

Maddie seems to be on the mend. She's still coughing but in much better spirits. She had a great day at Auntie Julie's today because it was a PA Day and Zoe was there so they got to play teacher. She didn't want to leave when I picked her up! I'm so glad they have fun there. One more year and then they won't go to her anymore except for on PA days. They are growing up so fast! Wah!

Poor Maddie

Nicole had to drive Maddie and Emma home from her place (she watches them after school) because Maddie was a mess. Crying and wanting to go home because she was sick. Poor thing had a fever, cough and was just miserable. After some honey medecine, cuddles and a popsicle she perked up a bit. Had some cereal before bed and then conked right out.

Emma was sweet and said she didn't like her sister sick or crying. I told her to take care of her by tucking her in on the couch, so she took a sweatshirt and wrapped it around Maddie, patted her face and gave her a kiss on the cheek. So sweet.

Bon Appetit!

Today Emma decided to take her apple cinnamon muffin, half a banana and her chocolate milk snack and mash them together in a bowl. She bring this concoction over to me and proudly presents her masterpiece and asks me to try it. I do the old fake try. But no, my Emma is too smart for that and she says "eat it for real please, mummy? I made it special for you." Not one to stifle creativity nor push aside her inner Martha Stewart, I take a big bite and hope for the best. And by golly, it was delicious! I praise her and she says "bon appetit" and leaves the rest with me. She's really into mixing and making potions, which can get messy at times, but again, she's having fun and no harm done.

Both kidlets still have coughs and sniffles. Maddie powers through and then crashes at night. Emma has been resting at Julie's, even forfeiting going outside for a rest on the couch. So I know she really is under the weather because my kids will go outside over anything, anyday! Hopefully they are completely over this thing soon, it's been dragging!

Lazy Sunday

Just typed out a whole post and it got deleted! Argh. Hopefully I remember what I wrote. The girls and I are watching movies as it's -32 out. I went running this morning and they were worried about mummy running when it's so cold. I assured them I was dressed properly (ended up being overdressed and took off a layer) and that I'd be ok. Both girls want to run with me so I will look into something soon that they can do.

Maddie is on a kick about being a baby again. She looks at pics of herself at 12-18 months. She asked if she could be a baby again and I said no, but she will always be my baby. She said "is that why you smover us wif kisses? Because you love us no matter what?" And I said "yep, that's exactly it!" So cute.

The girls had their first separate outings yesterday. Maddie had a bday party for a boy in her class and was super excited and ended up having a great time (John went). I took Emma to get our nails done and she was patient and acted like a little grown-up. So sweet!

Still Sickies!

The girls are still under the weather and Emma, especially, is super whiny. It's easy to tell when she's sick, even the day or two before it starts, her mood changes and she is much more cranky and wants to be carried. Of course I carry her because not much longer and I won't be able to anymore! Wah! Madison is sick too but she's a bit more of a trooper when it comes to illnesses. You barely know she's sick until you feel her foreheard lol.

The girls have a Winter concert coming up and they are practising around the house and it's so cute. I can't wait to see all of it live. They love school and love their teachers. I hear full, excited play by plays of their day and it's so nice to see them having so much fun. If only my grade 6's had their enthusiasm!

Maddie has a birthday party tomorrow. A boy in her class is turning 5. Emma wasn't invited as they are in different classes. Mom didn't see that one coming! lol So I said when this happens, and it will (Emma was invited to a party from a boy in her class two weeks after Maddie's) I told the girls I will take the other daughter out somewhere for some mummy time. So John will take Maddie to the play gym party and Emma and I are going for pedicure's. Both kids are super excited for their activities, so it's working out well.

Sick Kids (but they are still funny)!

So the girls have nasty colds and fevers. Emma said "mama, I fink you needa put the fermometer in my ear." So sweet. The other night at midnight she came into my room and wanted to sleep in my bed because she was unwell. I didn't sleep much because she kept thrashing about or reaching over to touch me. I didn't want to move as I wanted her to sleep. At 4 am she says she wants to go back to her own bed., so she did. Neither one of us slept well but I enjoyed the snuggle time with her. She was ok the next day and went to daycare, but slept for 2.5 hours on the couch! The downside of having twins, or even two kids, is one is sick first and then the other. So what would be 3-4 days with one child turns in to over a week so today it's Maddie's turn. She is very tired and coughing and can barely keep her eyes open so early to bed for her. On a funnier note, we were at my friend Carey's house, who has a guinea pig. Maddie was playing with the guinea pit and with Carey's daughter, 11, who is also named Madison. At one point my Madison turned to the other Madison and said "do you speak guinea pig?" So cute!

Fun in the snow!

The girls had fun playing outside this weekend because we have tons of snow! It was super cold out but that didn't stop them from wanting to be pushed in snowbanks and making snow angels. I love their rosy cheeks when they come in and they sleep really well at night! Maddie woke up this morning and crawled into my bed and said "good morning, I really like you mama." I was half asleep but snuggled with her because she isn't normally a morning cuddler. She will snuggle when she wants to though and I love those days. She later woke Emma up by accident and Emma was a bear! But after a few minutes she perks up. She just needs some time to wake up.

Mondays are not so Fundays!

We were out at my nephew's 3rd birthday party yesterday and stayed until 9:00! That meant the girls got to bed at 9:30, and they are usually in bed at 7:30. This wouldn't be a problem on a weekend but getting them up at 7:20 this morning was not fun! They were sound asleep, the sweethearts and I had to wake them up. I threw their clothes on and stuffed them in their carseats and they pretty much slept to Auntie Julie's. So cute. Needless to say they were still tired at pick-up and went to bed early tonight. Phew! Maddie asked on the way home if there are pets in outer space. I said no and she said there should be. There should be cute widdle bunnies in spaceships in outer space. lol!

1.6.2011

I got a call from the girls school today telling me Emma had to eat her lunch in the office. They thought it was a pb samdwhich (nut-free school) and I explained it was sunflower seed butter and I had put a note in there stating that. I guess it fell out. Anyway, I was very worried Em would be upset and think she was in trouble but she wasn't. They never cease to surprise me. I picked up two very tired girls today from Nicky's house (they call her Mycole). They were toboganning down the hill beside her house. I heard Emma tell Ben "get off and wait your turn or no ore boganning for you!" So cute. We came home and they inhaled their dinner. Inhaled it! They barely eat their lunch and are starving come dinner time on school days. It's hilarious. When we got inside Em took her snowpants off and her pants and undies came off too and we were howling with laughter. It was so funny. After bedtime we played upstairs with a bedsheet (parachute games) and they went off to bed before 8. I could hear them chatting a bit and Maddie asked Emma who the naughty boy is in her class and Em said "Hendrick because he never listens and he talks during O Canada!" I love eavesdropping I hear the cutest things!

1.5.2011

On the way to Auntie Julie's today Emma said "I love Kai he is so handsome and takes good care of me." I said "Emma, you don't need a boy to take care of you, you can take care of yourself" to which she replied "I KNOW mum-mums, but it's better-er if Kai does it for me." So I say to Madison "what do you think about boys Maddie" and she says "I just want a fishie in a bag." Done and done! Convent for Emma and fishie for Maddie. What a hoot these two are!

1.4.2011

I almost wrote 2001! ha ha! So the girls had their first day back at school and loved it. Madison is mad because she doesn't go back again until Thursday! If only my grade 6 students were so enthusiastic. Emma woke up at 2 am scared. She seems to get scared by what she calls floating pictures. I went in and soothed her but not sure where this is coming from. She is consistent with this fear, poor thing. John told me that she was upset she forgot her Ariel doll at Auntie Julie's so like a good mummy I went to get it for her at lunch and she was thrilled. I got to pick them up from school today as Nicole, who normally does, is still in Florida (lucky lady). I love seeing them in their school environment and how their eyes light up when they see me! Such cute little ladies. They are always very tired after a school day. And very hungry! Off to make them spaghetti now!

1.3.2011

Jan 3rd and my first day back at work. True to form, the girls slept in today. They didn't during the holidays but when I need to get em up for daycare, they sleep. sigh! They got up quickly though and were in great moves, so it was great. They ran into Auntie Julie's and gave me big kisses and hugs. She gave them haircuts and curled it and they look super cute. John picked them up as he had the day off and I had a staff meeting! Argh! Maddie is feeling better, and they are so excited about going to school tomorrow.

1.2.2011

Day 2 of 2011 and I remembered to update my blog! The girls went for lunch with John, Uncle Jeff and cousin Katie today. Unfortunately Maddie was sick with a fever and cried the whole time. When I got home in the afternoon, she was feverish and VERY clingy. She complained of her eyes and a headache so I gave her some medecine. After a few minutes I asked if the medecine was making her feel better to which she responded "no mummy but it's ok because your kisses are making me feel better!" So sweet. I love that when my girls are sick they seek comfort in just have me close and cuddling. Emma was concerned about her sister and helped me take care of her. Maddie had no appetite until about an hour before bedtime when she perked up and inhaled 3 containers of organic yogurt! lol We put them to bed early because they need to be up early tomorrow. Back to the grind and routine of Auntie Julie's and school (and work for me)!

1.1.11

First of the new year and I am resolving to update this blog more regularly. With Facebook status' I often post the funny things the girls say and do there, but that won't help in the future. I need to put them here too! I will cut and paste a few of their latest kidisms!

Maddie on the way to watch me run in the Resolution race on the 31st: Mummy, are you going to win? Me: no, but I'll do ok. Mads: are you going to get a trophy? Me: no. Mads: a gold medal? Me: no honey, I run because it's fun and makes me feel good. Mads: oh. Do you fink you will only get a marshmallow on a stick? Me (laughing hysterically): maybe.

Emma: mummy, you are just a little bit pretty, not a lot. Me (in my head): what the heck do you mean just a little bit pretty! Me outloud: Why just a little, Emma? Emma: well you have yellow hair, but it's too short. It needs to be long like Rapunzel and then you would be a lot pretty.

The twins played for over an hour before coming in to my room. I asked why and Maddie said "mummies work for one fousand hours and need a vewy wot of sleep so we gave you a sleep-in day!" Fist pump for vewy wot's of sleep!

Me:"Emma, stop whinning!" Em: "Mummy, stop bossing!"

They are quite a pair! Today they are beyond cranky and just told me they are going upstairs and I cannot check on them (yeah right)! They are tired but I will not let them nap at 4:30 pm lol! Let's hope less crankiness on the second day of 2011!
